Our "GET SMART" EVENT last night in the Nelson room at Independence Center was well attended and very informative. To see what you missed, keep reading for some of the highlights and links.
1. Happy Birthday songs were gleefully sung for Frank Johnson, Dianne Davis and Patrick Herrera. Happy Bday to all our Capricorns and Sagatarians!
2. New members were introduced and we passed the mic to our current members and guests so everyone could get acquainted. We learned about projects, goals and what our members want to learn this year.
3. Mike Molony gave a preview of our February 20th AI Music and Arts Showcase in the Nelson room 5- 7:00 plus refreshments. Put it on your calendar because it is MINDBLOWING! You will see 40 examples of AI Art and hear the many music tracks created in several genres. You will be able to converse with Mike and other members about AI,printing options and techniques. Learn about custom creations.
4. Dennis Palsgaard, Treasurer revealed our exciting new classes for learning the many disciplines of Multimedia. Please send an email and tell us what you want to learn. Artificial Intelligence, Writing, Video, YouTube, Editing, Producing, Directing, Graphics, Images, Apps, Streaming, Ken Burns effects, Voice overs, Reporting, Interviews, On camera make up, Teleprompter, Animation or ? Check the calendar on the website multimedia.scaclub.org often for new dates as our requests have not yet been confirmed with Lifestyle committee and Activities. Sorry, No workshops in January. Hopefully in February.
5. Don Hill - attended the yearly Consumer Electronics Show last week on the strip. CES Media Days kicked off at Mandalay Bay, January 5-6th. You can watch many CES videos on YouTube. https://www.ces.tech/press-releases/dive-in-to-the-future-ces-2025-opens-today/ Don showed us photos of the latest drone technology. FYI - the NJ drones were Walmart practicing with their delivery drones. No alien spys! Aerial photography class to be announced. Interested in attending CES in 26?
6. The National Association of Broadcasters Convention is April 5th to 9th. https://www.nabshow.com/ Let us know if you are interested and we will send the registration code. Free exhibit.
7. We have an invitation from our MM member, writer Tom Lee, to attend and review the dress rehearsal for his "Charlie Sees the Light." at Freedom Hall this month. Many of our members are in the production and tickets for the performances are at https://pac.scaclub.org/ or Activities office. Just $15. If you are unable to attend on the show dates send us an email. The dress rehearsal will be a start and stop situation and perhaps re-dos but better than missing it entirely and they appreciate an audience for feedback. It's a terrific show!
8. Our own Hollywood Movie producer Frank E Johnson gave us an update on his filming schedule starting this month for "The Genesis Project" on location in Utah. Congratulations Frank!
9. Linda Molony gave us her review of the Golden Globes which is absolutely worth a look on YouTube if you missed them! First time for a solo female host.
10. Bob Bush announced that 'Bob Bush and Friends' are entertaining at Buckman's restaurant February 26th with an Island theme. More info to follow. Make reservations for dinner and show at Opentable.com
